Midfield - What's the answer?
Clearly it's where a lot of our problems come from.

What do we do with the players we have? None of the centre midfielders apart from Lanzini looks worth the price of a block of cheese at the moment.

Obiang and Kouyate?
Obiang and Noble?
Noble and Kouyate?
Fernandes?

Who on earth do we play in there and in what combination? I've literally no idea what would actually work for us at this point in time.

Relegation and rebuild. Should have signed soemone in the summer it’s too late now. That midfield will take us down unfortunately.

Circa £100m in Jan should do it.

Rice, Oxford and Lanzini

Antonio in front of them.

Hernandez and Sakho up top.

The answer was the player the manager recommended in the summer

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
Both our midfield and defence is appalling. There is no answer with our current squad.

Obviously some pride, effort and passion would go a long way to helping. I think we could be so far gone at Christmas that whoever we bought wouldn't be able to save us. That was dismal today.

Cheers Bilic and the board!

Don't see why Lanzini is being let off the hook, he's been pretty much invisible this season?

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
The answer most definitely is not Kouyate. He’s never been the best player technically but he has been shocking so far this season and today’s performance was woeful. Should have scored a brace and his passing was terrible.

Don't disagree, but we don't have him. So what do we do with the ones we DO have at the club?

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
I'd stick Zabaleta in there and tell him to just sit in front

I'm letting him off the hook because on the whole he's been a plus rather than a minus for us.

Sure, he was shit today, but he's also been a sole shining light in many matches this season and last which you can in no way say about any of the others.

Carvalho is only 1/3 of the answer.

I think if Antonio remains injured he has to introduce Haskabanovic from the U23s, he can't be any worse than the current team. it's a shame Holland as he's another worth a chance. I'm not sure Moyes would be allowed to leave out the big earners if he wanted to

The problem is major underinvestment in central midfield over several windows. Lanzini apart, our options are poor. We haven’t even invested in the basic PL journeyman like Ritchie, Mooy, or Jack Cork.

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
The centre midfield needs a complete overhaul.

Noble was never the quickest, but his entire game seems to have gone to pot.

Obiang is playing fucking awfully and I've never seen a midfielder incapable of passing the ball 10 yards on so many occasions.

Koyoute has always been a bit overrated in my opinion and is far too inconsistent.

Would love carvhallo, but really can't see him wanting to join us.

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
People always want to single Noble out, he was average at best today but his passing is way better than Obiangs. When he gets the ball in the holding midfield role there are just so few options for him.

If you look at alot of our starting XI their technique is not great, AC and Kouyate have the touch of a rapist, Sakho is all speed, Arnie and Lanzini probably are the only two with good technique so our passing is always going to suffer.

Starting Carroll as we all know, means we will just boot it long, the guy is now a liability. He just looks like he is a walking red card and refs are now noticing it and the opposition are also acting a bit ot get the ref to book him etc. If we do play Carroll up top we just have to have someone playing off him because otherwise what's the point of him flicking a ball on?

The squad is a just a mess, the team has no identity, no way to play because we have some players who should be ain a passing teams, others in a long ball game etc.

Re: Midfield - What's the answer?
The rubber brothers pulled out ( no pun) of paying for a proper dm

1 because they are cheapskate amateur chancers

2 they didn't trust their money with bilic after the first 3 games (But noted they didn't want to sack him either)
